My Girl Lolly Pop

My work colleague, friend and Hudson neighbor, Hair and Makeup artist Mara Schiavetti, is also Editor in Chief of the magazine A Green Beauty,  ” a sustainable & ethical publication and lifestyle guide. Featuring articles and reviews on eco fashion, beauty, wellness and much more”. In our story “My Girl Lolly Pop”, we featured our little burgh Hudson, and Hudson’s wonderful neighbor, Catskill, NY, which is only ten minutes away across the mighty Hudson River. They are both towns with an abundance of great streets, shops and vintage weathered surfaces to play with. In this story, we decided to do interiors, as spring refused to arrive in a timely fashion, and it was still quite cold out. The story is called Lolly Pop, and we wanted to avoid turning our spectacular Brazilian model, Vanessa Moreiro, into a Icicle Pop! Among the wonderful location we photographed: Catskill Community Theatre,  Hilo CafeHouse Rules HudsonLil Deb’s OasisSpike’s Record Rack and Supernatural Coffee. Photo by me, Styling by Sabine Feuilloley, Hair/MU by Mara Schiavetti, Digital by Brooke Vandever.

Curaçao

Curaçao is a dream location! From beach to town, so many great spots. I first came to Curaçao 22 years ago to photograph for Mexx Kids. I returned again five years ago to work with the Curaçao Tourism Board. I was so happy to go back last week to take more photographs with the island as the backdrop. Many thanks to Jolanda Smulders for helping me put this team together and providing wonderful hair/mu, Adzienne of AGStyling for doing a fantastic job pulling clothes and to Chantal Wiertz for jumping into jelly fish, and doing whatever else I asked for the photographs. Lastly, thanks to Brooke Vandever for keeping all the files in order and driving all over the island with me to scout.

If you plan on shooting in Curaçao, contact Chicas Productions for all of your production needs.

A Yarn About Love

The week before Valentine’s Day, I organized a team to do a story geared toward the approaching holiday. I took a trip into Manhattan to visit Lion Brand Yarns, and bought a whole bunch of beautiful red yarn. Discussing the project with stylist Sarah Daniella, she suggested Samantha Vrielink as a wonderful choice of model. On seeing her portfolio, I immediately concurred. Next, I added a dash of hair/makeup artist Clelia Bergonzoli, and then a pinch of digital tech Brooke Vandever, and stirred it all up at Ten Ton Studio, and viola: “A Yarn About Love!” was created!

World Bride Magazine Editorial

We had a great time in Tarrytown photographing this story for World Bride Magazine! Editorial Director Myrdith Leon-McCormack must be the hardest working woman in the magazine business. Together with Fashion & Creative Director Mimi Lombardo we created a whimsical Girls Trip editorial spread on a warm grey day.

Our Beautiful Launderette

This is a story I have been dying to photograph for ages. I finally started scouting for laundromats with lots of daylight. I must say, when you’re self producing and aren’t waving around buckets of money, it’s hard to get anyone to get back to you. My erstwhile assistantBrooke Vanderbilt is persistent; however, and would not be denied. So several times she trekked to Laundry King and stalked the owners until they finally relented! We then pulled together our dream team: stylist Mimi Lombardo, hair/mu Brett Jackson, model Kathryn Carter and model Nick Zibro. We arrived and had a blast making photographs in suds heaven!
